EDUCATION
& RECREATION

Farm & Wilderness Conservation  is dedicated to facilitating connections to growth, deeper understanding, to our environment, and to each other. We aim to provide opportunities for our community to learn form the work we do and the natural landscape surrounding us. Throughout the year we provide accessible programming for the public with online talks, hikes, workshops, and events.

During the summer months, our affiliated organization, Farm & Wilderness Foundation, runs seven camp programs based on outdoor experiential education and located next to our conserved lands in Plymouth and Mount Holly. In addition to summer camps, we provide facilities to school programs and programming to local afterschool programs in surrounding towns.

Across our woodlands and on the shores of Lake Ninevah and Woodward Reservoir there are many low-impact recreation opportunities for anyone to enjoy. Farm & Wilderness strives to work to provide these opportunities in a way that is accessible to as many as possible while prioritizing ecological protections.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We are fortunate to be a part of a broader community of conservation-minded organizations and partners here
in Vermont.

  • Our primary goal is to offer accessible opportunities for our community to participate in and gain knowledge from our activities throughout the year, extending beyond the duration of our summer camp season.

  • We organized a series of guided hikes and a guided paddle at Woodward Reservoir. These events provided us with the opportunity to utilize our lands and farm facilities to educate the community about our sustainable practices. Our goal is to assist individuals in our community in developing a deeper connection with the natural world.

SUMMER CAMPS & SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Farm & Wilderness promotes, supports, and educates campers to face new challenges with courage and integrity as they participate in hands-on outdoor adventures. Campers learn hard work and joyful play, all while living in a community setting and learning how to care for our environment.

Farm & Wilderness Conservation After-School Program

Highlights include the Great Backyard Bird Count, cider pressing, building beaver dams, maple sugaring, farm animal visits, and leaf education. We also host local school groups, providing access to our programming, farm facilities, and conserved lands.

RECREATION

We advocate for outdoor activities that align with conservation values. Our focus extends to nature-friendly recreational pursuits, such as hiking, birdwatching, fishing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. These activities allow individuals to immerse themselves in the natural beauty surrounding them while respecting and preserving the environment.

We actively promote these conservation-minded activities and encourage low-impact hobbies like photography. Photography enables individuals to capture and share the stunning landscapes, unique flora and fauna, and breathtaking moments they encounter during their outdoor adventures.
