Located north of Lake Ninevah and the town line of Mount Holly, the 99 acre Parker Parcel in Plymouth is nestled within a large forest block owned and managed by Farm & Wilderness Conservation. As of September 2024, we are pleased to announce that we have purchased the entirety of this parcel in hopes of permanently conserving it in the future. We could not have done this without the amazing support from our community!
This project, initially begun by the Ninevah Foundation, is the culmination of nearly 25 years of effort. Much of the fundraising work for this project was led by Andy Schulz former F&W camper, Ninevah Foundation board member and current FWC/F&W board member. Other community members in the Lake Ninevah area including surrounding residents and members of the Wilderness Community recognized the importance of this acquisition and stepped up in a big way by raising over $120,000, covering the project’s entire costs. This was truly a community effort and a big thank you to everyone who supported, donated, and helped make this project a success!
Looking ahead, FWC plans to permanently conserve this land, ideally through the federal Forest Legacy Program, in which most of the FWC’s lands are already conserved. This will protect the land in perpetuity, and continue to provide wildlife habitat, watershed protection, sequester and store carbon, and provide a space for public outdoor recreation.
